MAS Slimline was propelled to become an exemplary manufacturing plant in 1996 under Dian’s leadership. Team Slimline won the Taiki Akimoto Award for implementing Japanese 5S Productivity techniques for two consecutive years, and went on to win the Willis Carron International Award twice in 1996 and 1998.
In 1999 under Dian’s leadership, Team Slimline was acclaimed with the Wayamba Vijiyabhimani Entrepreneur award for the most outstanding organization. For three consecutive years from 2001, Team Slimline was commended with the Millionaire’s Club Award by Sara Lee Courtaulds. In the same year Dian became the President of the CIMA – UK for Sri Lanka division.
In 2003, Dian was awarded Business Leader of the year in a large-scale category at the CIMA Janashakthi Pinnacle awards. While in 2007 the Sri Lanka institute of marketing recognized him as one of the country’s ‘Male Icons’.
In 2009, the World Brand Congress felicitated Dian with the Brand Leadership Award in the Individual Category; He also received the Globe Award in 2010 for sustainable innovation of MAS Intimates Thurulie. This eco manufacturing facility, which was the first Platinum lead apparel plant in the world, was lauded as being a prime example of innovation that linked sustainable development with business ethics.

In recognition of his contribution to sports, Dian was awarded with ‘Outstanding Individual contribution to Sports’ at the Africa Sports Management leadership awards 2014, in Mauritius. 

Dian has been appointed as the President of Sri Lanka Boxing consecutively from 2004 – 2009 and then 2017 – 2020; this recurring appointment to such a prestigious body is testament to the exemplary leadership, guidance and support he has provided over the years. He is fondly known as the ‘Godfather’ of boxing in the country due to his service in taking the Sri Lanka boxing to the international arena, and exceeding all expectations since then.
