Costumes of Sri Lanka
The scope of this book is the evolution of Sri Lankan costumes spanning from around 6th century B.C. with the first available records of the island’s dress form, to the post-independence era. This broad time span begins with hints of a pre-Vijayan culture of costumes and textiles and ends in the post-independence politics and its relationship to dress both in prescription and practice. Sculptures, graffiti, paintings, literature and photographs in the book provide an engrossing glimpse of the traditions of clothing in this multi-cultural island.
A place in the Sun
A collection of stories from Dian’s team at Slimline, ‘A Place in the Sun’ is a deeply moving, entertaining and informative book. The different perspectives from which the book is written makes it even more enthralling. It is all about life at Pannala; and how a team, place and the sheer attitude of winning have shaped each and every employee’s future forever.
Sri Lanka Proud
The book ‘Sri Lanka Proud’ meticulously chronicles the exceptional deeds of the best athletes of the country. The 219 athletes portrayed in the book are a microcosm of the country; from blue blooded aristocrats to secluded villagers, from apparel workers to business magnates they are all here. They represent diverse ethnic groups, religions and upbringings, yet they are united by two factors- love for sport and pride in representing the motherland internationally.
